Gents For Success
Gents For Success is a program that aims to build community between school resource officers and black students through officers teaching emotional skills in education, corrections, and community mental health. A pilot was conducted in the Spring of 2021. Officers in the district plan to expand the program and add a music therapy component. WhyTry?
Gents For Success engaged five young black men in ninth and tenth grade. School Resources officers taught a curriculum called WhyTry?, a social and emotional skills training in education, corrections, and community mental health.
